Camp Manitou was honoured to be the recipient charity of the first annual Glamp for Camp dinner. Guests were guided through Cedar trees and a meadow of daisies into the Victoria Inn ballroom. Tables were adorned with red gingham tablecloths, tree saplings and camping gadgets. Cold Cracked Canoe beers were served out of a canoe, as guests waited their turn for the photo booth- complete with camping props from fishing to flashlights. The dessert table featured s’mores, a sticky treat that brought everyone back to around the campfire. The cedar trees that were a feature of the found new homes as guests were able to purchase the trees to plant, or donate to Camp Manitou to plant in the forest of heroes.

Camp Manitou is tucked in along the forested bend in the Assiniboine River. Just 5 minutes past the West Perimeter, it is an accessible outdoor camp in Winnipeg’s backyard. The Winnipeg Jets True North Foundation (WJTNF) is entering its 3rd summer operating Camp Manitou and will see more than 3000 students attend this summer- including students who participate in the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Academy, the second of three programs run by the WJTNF.

Rick Bochinski, Camp Manitou Director spoke of Glamp for the Camp’s impact;

“Thank you to the Friends of Camp Manitou Committee for hosting this dinner for Camp Manitou. Camp Manitou is expanding with new structures and activities. Our goal is to ensure all kids of Manitoba have the opportunity to experience camp. The funds raised from Glamp for the Camp will send a lot of deserving kids to camp this summer.”

We’d like to thank everyone on the Friends of Camp Manitou Committee, Rick Bochinski & Julie Chartier for all of their efforts in a successful evening.
