Currently, 30 grade 5/6 classrooms are piloting Project 11 and 43 classrooms from last year’s pilot continue incorporating Project 11 in their school for the 2015-16 school year.

In January 2016, Project 11 will host its second Celebration Day or “Community Wellness Wednesday” where students volunteer for a portion of their day to help give back to their community. Some examples of the activities are: reading to younger students in their school, helping teachers organize and clean in their classrooms, collecting toys to donate to those in need, plant flowers and help tidy up the school yard/community.

An increasing number of teachers are reaching out to Project 11 to present to students or staff. On October 23rd at the Provincial teachers’ conference, Project 11 presentations occurred at two different sessions. Project 11 staff have had several speaking opportunities all over Winnipeg, including rural Manitoba. Most recently, they ran a Mental Fitness workshop in MacGregor Manitoba.

During January to April, Project 11 will finalize and film the curriculum for grade 7 & 8 which will be piloted in the 2016-2017 school year. The program will be available province wide for grades 5-8 in the 2017-2018 school year.

Looking forward beyond next year, Project 11’s goal would be to present in each 5-8 grade level in every school division of Manitoba and provide 2 launching periods of the 15 week program (September & February).
