Thank you to all who supported the 2017 Winnipeg Jets Gala Dinner! Your generosity has helped to make this year’s event the most successful gala hosted at Bell MTS Place to date. Nearly $400,000 was raised for the more than 18,000 youth (and growing) who benefit from True North Youth Foundation programming each year.

“The Jets Gala Dinner is our signature fundraising event and once again the community has come together to support our efforts to empower the potential of underserved youth in our city,” said Dwayne Green, the foundation’s executive director. “These funds will be reinvested in our community and will provide opportunities that will enrich the lives of many children.”

More than 900 guests came together at Bell MTS Place on October 18th to socialize, dine, celebrate youth, and to mingle with the Manitoba Moose and Winnipeg Jets hockey teams.

Jets TV Host and Insider Jamie Thomas was the host for the night’s festivities and the amazing work of the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Academy, Project 11, and Camp Manitou was highlighted throughout the evening as TSN’s Sara Orlesky and Dennis Beyak interviewed players and foundation staff.

Executive chairman of True North Sports + Entertainment, Mark Chipman, made a heartfelt speech and introduced a special video highlighting the impact that True North Youth Foundation is having on youth, their families, and schools throughout Manitoba.

During the cocktail hour guests had the opportunity to bid on more than 50 amazing prizes in the auction and lucky winners went home with unique experiences like an ice fishing trip with Dustin Byfuglien, a California road trip with the Jets, a fishing adventure with Shawn Matthias and New Year’s Eve in New York City. After a wonderful four-course meal, the evening was capped with many laughs courtesy of comedian Jay Mohr.

“We are just so humbled by the generosity and support of our amazing donors and sponsors,” Dwayne said following the gala, “I hope they appreciate just how grateful we are for the difference they are helping us to make for youth in Manitoba, as well as how moved we are by their belief in our True North Youth Foundation team.”

The annual gala dinner was a celebration of what happens when great programs, committed community partners and vibrant supporters come together to create opportunity in our community. The success of the evening showcases the generous and caring spirit of Manitobans. Thank you to all who joined us to make a memorable and meaningful evening and for being a vital part of our True North Youth Foundation family!
