Winnipeg Jets 50/50 presented by PlayNow.com draws offer fans the opportunity to become a game changer for Manitoba youth by participating in raising funds that will help the foundation and its three core programs – the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Academy (WJHA), Project 11 and Camp Manitou – provide consistent programming for youth, even through the pandemic.
Despite the challenges the pandemic has brought, including a decrease in 50/50 fundraising opportunities, the foundation has worked tirelessly to ensure that Manitoba’s youth continue to receive valuable programming, even if it looks slightly different than before. The WJHA has transitioned their tutoring program online and have hosted team workouts virtually for their athletes; Camp Manitou was able to ensure a safe camp experience for campers in summer 2020 and looks forward to again welcoming campers this summer with health and safety remaining paramount; and Project 11 continues to grow – expanding to older students with a high school pilot program this year, along with starting a podcast to further engage students outside the classroom.
